Sunday Mornings at Parr Street Church

Welcome

And can it be that I should gain

an interest in the Saviour's blood?

Died He for me, who caused His pain?

For me, who Him to death pursued?

Amazing love! How can it be

that You, my God, should die for me?

Amazing love! How can it be

that You, my God, should die for me?

What mystery here! The Immortal dies!

Who can explore His strange design?

In vain the highest angel tries

to sound the depths of love divine!

What mercy this! Let earth adore;

let angel minds enquire no more.

What mercy this! Let earth adore;

let angel minds enquire no more.

He left his Father's throne above

so free, so infinite His grace –

humbled Himself in all His love

and bled for Adam's helpless race.

What mercy this, immense and free,

for, O my God, it found out me!

What mercy this, immense and free,

for, O my God, it found out me!

Long my imprisoned spirit lay

fast bound in sin and nature's night:

then shone Your glorious gospel ray;

I woke! The dungeon flamed with light!

My chains fell off, my heart was new,

I rose, went forth and followed You!

My chains fell off, my heart was new,

I rose, went forth and followed You!

No condemnation now I dread!

Jesus, and all in Him, is mine!

Alive in Him, my living head,

and clothed in righteousness divine,

bold I approach the eternal throne

and claim the crown, through Christ my own;

bold I approach the eternal throne

and claim the crown, through Christ my own.

Prayer

Awake, awake, O Zion,

and clothe yourself with strength,

shake off your dust

and fix your eyes on Him.

For you have been redeemed by

the precious blood of Jesus,

and now you sit enthroned with Him.

Our God reigns,

He is King of all the earth.

Our God reigns,

and He's seated on the throne.

Lift your voice,

and sing a song of praise.

Our God reigns,

the awesome Lord most high.

How beautiful the feet are

of those who bring good news,

for they proclaim the peace that comes
from God.

Rise up, you holy nation,

proclaim the great salvation,

and say to Zion 'Your God reigns.'

Emmanuel, Emmanuel,

our God is with us now.

The watchmen lift their voices,

and raise a shout of joy,

for He will come again.

Then all eyes will see the

Salvation of our God,

for He has redeemed Jerusalem.

Prayer

Bible Reading: Daniel 1

King of Kings, majesty,

God of heaven living in me,

gentle Saviour, closest friend,

strong deliverer, beginning and end,

all within me falls at Your throne,

Your majesty, I can but bow,

I lay my all before You now,

in royal robes I don’t deserve

I live to serve Your majesty.

Earth and heaven worship You,

love eternal, faithful and true,

who bought the nations, ransomed souls,

brought this sinner near to Your throne;

all within me cries out in praise.

The Bible teaching

What kind of love is this

that gave itself for me?

I am the guilty one,

yet I go free.

What kind of love is this,

a love I’ve never known;

I didn’t ever know His name,

what kind of love is this?

What kind of man is this,

that died in agony?

He who had done no wrong

was crucified for me.

What kind of man is this,

who laid aside His throne

that I may know the love of God?

What kind of man is this?

By grace I have been saved;

it is the gift of God.

He destined me to be His son,

such is His love.

No eye has ever seen,

no ear has ever heard,

nor has the heart of man conceived

what kind of love is this?

Bible Reading: John 11:1-44

You're the word of God the Father

from before the world began;

every star and every planet

has been fashioned by Your hand.

All creation holds together

by the power of Your voice:

let the skies declare Your glory,

let the land and seas rejoice!

You're the author of creation,

You're the Lord of every man:

and Your cry of love rings out across the lands.

Yet you left the gaze of angels,

came to seek and save the lost,

and exchanged the joy of heaven

for the anguish of a cross.

With a prayer You fed the hungry,

with a word You stilled the sea.

Yet how silently You suffered

that the guilty may go free.

With a shout You rose victorious,

wresting victory from the grave,

and ascended into heaven

leading captives in Your wake.

Now You stand before the Father

interceding for Your own.

From each tribe and tongue and nation

You are leading sinners home.

Prayer

Bible Teaching

O for a thousand tongues to sing

my great Redeemer's praise,

the glories of my God and King,

the triumphs of His grace!

Jesus, the name that calms our fears

and bids our sorrows cease;

this music in the sinner's ears

is life and health and peace.

He breaks the power of cancelled sin,

He sets the prisoner free;

His blood can make the foulest clean,

His blood availed for me.

He speaks; and, listening to His voice,

new life the dead receive,

the mournful broken hearts rejoice,

the humble poor believe.

My gracious Master and my God,

assist me to proclaim

and spread through all the earth abroad

the honours of Your name.

Closing Prayer

Sunday Morning - 2nd November 2008

Welcome

Jesus, the name high over all

in hell or earth or sky;

angels and men before it fall

and devils fear and fly,

and devils fear and fly.

Jesus, the name to sinners dear,

the name to sinners given;

it scatters all their guilty fear,

it turns their hell to heaven,

it turns their hell to heaven.

Jesus the prisoner's fetters breaks

and bruises Satan's head;

power into strengthless souls He speaks

and life into the dead,

and life into the dead.

O that the world might taste and see

the riches of His grace!

The arms of love that welcome me

would all mankind embrace,

would all mankind embrace.

His righteousness alone I show,

His saving truth proclaim;

this is my work on earth below,

to cry, 'Behold the Lamb!'

to cry, 'Behold the Lamb!'

Happy if with my final breath

I may but gasp His name,

preach Him to all, and cry in death,

'Behold, behold the Lamb!'

'Behold, behold the Lamb!'

Prayer

There will come a day

we don't know when.

The day when all the evil and the wickedness will end.

There will come a day

the judgment day.

The day when ev'ry sinner

will be judged and cast away.

God has made a way

a way of escape

He sent His son among us to be punished in our place.

Jesus is the way and Him alone

He takes away our guilt and fear

and grants us living hope.

There is still a day

we don't know when.

The day when all the evil and the wickedness will end.

Waiting for that day

we trust in our Lord.

Proclaiming the good news of Jesus

to our broken world.

Intercessory Prayer

O Church, Arise, and put your armour on;

hear the call of Christ our Captain.

For now the weak can say that they are strong

in the strength that God has given.

With shield of faith and belt of truth,

we’ll stand against the devil’s lies;

an army bold, whose battle-cry is Love,

reaching out to those in darkness.

Our call to war, to love the captive soul

but to rage against the captor;

and with the sword that makes the wounded whole,

we will fight with faith and valour.

When faced with trials on every side

we know the outcome is secure,

and Christ will have the prize for which He died,

an inheritance of nations

Come see the cross where love and mercy meet,

as the Son of God is stricken;

then see His foes lie crushed beneath His feet,

for the Conqueror has risen!

And as the stone is rolled away,

and Christ emerges from the grave,

this victory march continues till the day

every eye and heart shall see Him.

So Spirit, come, put strength in every stride,

give grace for every hurdle,

that we may run with faith to win the prize

of a servant good and faithful.

As saints of old still line the way,

retelling triumphs of His grace,

we hear their calls, and hunger for the day

when with Christ we stand in glory.

Bible Reading: John chapter 9

The Bible Teaching

Amazing grace – how sweet the sound –

that saved a wretch like me!

I once was lost, but now am found;

was blind, but now I see.

God’s grace first taught my heart to fear,

His grace my fears relieved;

how precious did that grace appear

the hour I first believed!

Through many dangers, toils and snares

I have already come;

His grace has brought me safe this far

and grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me,

His word my hope secures;

my shield and great reward is He

as long as life endures.

And when this mortal life is past

and earthly days shall cease,

I shall possess with Christ at last

eternal joy and peace.

The earth will soon dissolve like snow,

the sun no longer shine;

but God, who called me here below,

will be for ever mine.

Sunday Morning - 26th October 2008

Welcome

As the deer pants for the water,

so my soul longs after You.

You alone are my heart's desire

and I long to worship You.

You alone are my strength, my shield,

to You alone may my spirit yield

You alone are my heart’s desire

and I long to worship You.

I want You more than gold or silver,

only You can satisfy.

You alone are the real joy-giver

and the apple of my eye.

You're my Friend and You're my Brother,

even though You are a king.

I love You more than any other,

so much more than anything.

Prayer

Meet Alan Wadsworth

All my days I will sing this song of gladness,

give my praise to the Fountain of delights;

for in my helplessness You heard my cry,

and waves of mercy poured down on my life.

I will trust in the cross of my Redeemer,

I will sing of the blood that never fails,

of sins forgiven, of conscience cleansed,

of death defeated and life without end.

Beautiful Saviour, Wonderful Counsellor,

clothed in majesty, Lord of history,

You’re the Way, the Truth, the Life.

Star of the Morning, glorious in holiness,

You’re the Risen One, heaven’s Champion,

and You reign, You reign over all!

I long to be where the praise is never-ending,

yearn to dwell where the glory never fades,

where countless worshippers will share one song,

and cries of ‘Worthy’ will honour the Lamb!

Prayer

Bible Reading - Jeremiah 2:9-13 and John 7:37-39

Guide me, O my great Redeemer,

pilgrim through this barren land;

I am weak, but You are mighty,

hold me with Your powerful hand:

Bread of heaven, Bread of heaven,

feed me now and evermore,

feed me now and evermore.

Open now the crystal fountain

where the healing waters flow;

let the fiery, cloudy pillar

lead me all my journey through:

strong Deliverer, strong Deliverer,

ever be my strength and shield,

ever be my strength and shield.

When I tread the verge of Jordan

bid my anxious fears subside;

death of death, and hell's destruction

land me safe on Canaan's side:

songs of praises, songs of praises,

I will ever sing to You,

I will ever sing to You.

Bible Teaching

Here is love, vast as the ocean,

lovingkindness as the flood,

when the Prince of life, our ransom,

shed for us His precious blood.

Who His love will not remember?

Who can cease to sing His praise?

He can never be forgotten

throughout heaven's eternal days.

On the mount of crucifixion

fountains opened deep and wide;

through the floodgates of God's mercy

flowed a vast and gracious tide.

Grace and love, like mighty rivers,

poured incessant from above,

and heaven's peace and perfect justice

kissed a guilty world in love.

Millions since in earth and heaven

drawing near the eternal throne;

called from every tribe and nation

one exalted Saviour own.

In that crowded congregation

I, astonished, take my place,

cleansed and healed and, by adoption,

made a child of God by grace.

Sunday Morning – 19th October 2008

Welcome

I'll praise my Maker while I've breath;

and when my voice is lost in death,

praise shall employ my nobler powers;

my days of praise shall not be past,

while life and thought and being last

or immortality endures.

Happy the one whose hopes rely

on Jacob's God, who made the sky,

the earth, the sea, the night and day;

His truth for ever stands secure,

He saves the oppressed, He feeds the poor,

and none who seeks is turned away.

The LORD gives eyesight to the blind,

He calms and heals the troubled mind

He sends the wounded conscience peace;

He helps the stranger in distress,

the widow and the fatherless,

and grants the prisoner glad release.

I'll praise Him while He lends me breath,

and when my voice is lost in death

praise shall employ my nobler powers;

my days of praise shall not be past

while life and thought and being last

or immortality endures.

Bible reading – John 6

My heart is full of admiration

for You, my Lord, my God and King.

Your excellence, my inspiration,

Your words of grace have made my spirit sing.

All the glory, honour and power

belong to You, belong to You.

Jesus, Saviour, anointed One,

I worship You, I worship You.

You love what's right and hate all evil,

therefore Your God sets You on high;

and on Your head pours oil of gladness,

while fragrance fills Your royal palaces.

Your throne, O God, will last forever,

justice will be Your royal decree.

In majesty, ride out victorious,

for righteousness, truth and humility.

Bible teaching

Draw me close to the cross,

to the place of Your love,

to the place where You poured

out Your mercy;

where the river of life that flows

from Your wounded side

brings refreshing to those

who draw near.

Draw me close to Your throne

where Your majesty is shown,

where the crown of my life I lay down.

Draw me close to Your side,

where my heart is satisfied,

draw me close to You, Lord,

draw me close.

Lord’s Supper

O the deep, deep love of Jesus,

Vast, unmeasured, boundless free.

Rolling as a mighty ocean,

In its fulness over me.

Underneath me, all around me,

Is the current of thy love.

Leading onward, leading homeward,

To my glorious rest above.

O the deep, deep love,

Vast, unmeasured, boundless, free.

O the deep, deep love,

In its fulness over me.

O the deep, deep love of Jesus,

Spread His praise from shore to shore.

How He loveth, ever loveth,

Changeth never, never more.

How He watches o'er His loved ones,

Died to call them all His own.

How for them He intercedeth,

Watcheth o'er them from the throne.

O the deep, deep love,

Spread His praise from shore to shore.

O the deep, deep love,

Changeth never, never more

O the deep, deep love of Jesus,

Love of every love the best.

Tis an ocean vast of blessing,

Tis a haven sweet of rest.

O the deep, deep love of Jesus,

Tis a heaven of heavens to me.

And it lifts me up to Glory,

For it lifts me up to Thee.

O the deep, deep love,

Love of every love the best.

O the deep, deep love,

Tis a haven sweet of rest.

Sunday Morning – 12th October 2008

Welcome

Holy, holy, holy, Lord God almighty!

Early in the morning our song of praise shall be:

'Holy, holy, holy; merciful and mighty,

God in three Persons, glorious Trinity!'

Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore You,

casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea,

cherubim and seraphim failing down before You:

You were and are, and evermore shall be!

Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide You,

though the eye of sinful man Your glory may not see,

You alone are holy, there is none beside You,

perfect in power, in love and purity.

Holy, holy, holy, Lord God almighty!

All Your works shall praise Your name, in earth and sky and sea:

'Holy, holy, holy; merciful and mighty,

God in three Persons, glorious Trinity!'

All-age Harvest Thanksgiving

Welcome

We plough the fields, and scatter

the good seed on the land;

but it is fed and watered

by God's almighty hand:

He sends the snow in winter,

the warmth to swell the grain;

the breezes and the sunshine

and soft refreshing rain.

All good gifts around us

are sent from heaven above:

then thank the Lord,

O thank the Lord

for all His love.

He only is the Maker

of all things near and far;

He paints the wayside flower,

He lights the evening star:

the winds and waves obey Him,

by Him the birds are fed;

much more, to us His children

He gives our daily bread.

We thank You, then, our Father,

for all things bright and good;

the seed-time and the harvest,

our life, our health, our food:

accept the gifts we offer

for all Your love imparts;

and that which You most welcome –

our humble, thankful hearts!

Prayer

(Children to bring gifts forward during first verse while congregation remains seated)

Yes, God is good – in earth and sky,

from ocean depths and spreading wood,

ten thousand voices seem to cry:

God made us all, and God is good.

The sun that keeps His trackless way,

and downward pours His golden flood,

night’s sparkling hosts, all seem to say

in accents clear, that God is good.

The joyful birds prolong the strain,

their song with every spring renewed;

the air we breathe, and falling rain,

each softly whispers: God is good.

I hear it in the rushing breeze;

the hills that have for ages stood,

the echoing sky and roaring seas,

all swell the chorus: God is good.

Yes, God is good, all nature says,

by God’s own hand with speech endued;

and man, in louder notes of praise,

should sing for joy that God is good.

For all Your gifts we bless You Lord,

but chiefly for our heavenly food;

Your pardoning grace, Your quickening word,

these prompt our song, that God is good.

Talk (Part 1)

O Lord of heaven and earth and sea,

to You all praise and glory be,

who loved us from eternity –

You give us all.

The golden sunshine, gentle air,

sweet flowers and fruit, Your love declare;

when harvests ripen, You are there –

You give us all.

For peaceful homes and healthful days,

for all the blessings earth displays,

we owe you thankfulness and praise –

You give us all.

You did not spare Your only Son,

but gave Him for a world undone,

and freely with Your holy One

You give us all.

You sent Your Spirit from above

as wind and fire and gentle dove;

and in His gifts of power and love

You give us all.

For souls redeemed, for sins forgiven,

for means of grace and hopes of heaven,

Father what can to You be given?

You give us all.

We lose what on ourselves we spend;

we have as treasure without end

whatever, Lord, to You we lend –

You give us all.

O may we ever with You live;

Prayer

Speak, O Lord, as we come to You

to receive the food of Your holy word.

Take Your truth; plant it deep in us;

shape and fashion us in Your likeness,

that the light of Christ might be seen today

in our acts of love and our deeds of faith.

Speak, O Lord, and fulfil in us

all Your purposes, for Your glory.

Teach us Lord full obedience,

holy reverence, true humility;

test our thoughts and our attitudes

in the radiance of Your purity.

Cause our faith to rise;

cause our eyes to see

Your majestic love and authority.

Words of power that can never fail –

let their truth prevail over unbelief.

Speak, O Lord, and renew our minds;

help us grasp the heights of Your plans for us –

Truths unchanged from the dawn of time

that will echo down through eternity.

And by grace we'll stand on Your promises;

and by faith we'll walk as You walk with us.

Speak, O Lord, till Your church is built

Wind of God, dynamic Spirit,

breathe upon our hearts today;

that we may your power inherit

hear us, Spirit, as we pray:

fill the vacuum that enslaves us –

emptiness of heart and soul;

and, through Jesus Christ who saves us,

give us life and make us whole.

Voice of God, prophetic Spirit,

speak to every heart today

to encourage or prohibit,

urging action or delay:

clear the vagueness which impedes us –

come, enlighten mind and soul;

and, through Jesus Christ who leads us,

teach the truth that makes us whole.

Fire of God, volcanic Spirit,

burn within our hearts today;

cleanse our sin – may we exhibit

holiness in every way:

purge the squalidness that shames us,

soils the body, taints the soul;

and through Jesus Christ who claims us,

purify us, make us whole.

always doin’ their exercise?

Well it’s better to work for a heavenly prize

so practise being godly...

If you’ve been forgiven in Jesus’ name,

practise being godly.

He paid the price for all our sin

His Holy Spirit dwells within

so centre all you do on Him...

Practise being godly.

You can lift big weights, you can swim or run

train everyday to be number one.

But it’s better to train for the life to come

practise being godly...

Well, walk with the Lord wherever you go;

The Bible Teaching

Jesus, the joy of loving hearts,

fountain of life and light of men,

from the best bliss that earth imparts

we turn unfilled to You again.

Your truth unchanged has always stood;

You save all those who on You call:

to those who seek You, O how good!

To those who find You, all in all!

We taste of You, the Living Bread,

and long to feast upon You still;

we drink of You, the fountain-head,

and thirst our souls from You to fill.

Our restless spirits long for You,

no matter where our lot is cast,

glad when Your gracious smile we view,

blessed when our faith can hold You fast.

O Jesus, ever with us stay;

make all our moments calm and bright;

chase the dark night of sin away,

spread through the world Your holy light.

and Christ emerges from the grave,

this victory march continues till the day

every eye and heart shall see Him.

Prayer

Song: Practice Being Godly

Have you seen those fit and healthy guys

always doin’ their exercise?

Well it’s better to work for a heavenly prize

so practise being godly.

Never give up, make it your aim

practise being godly.

If you’ve been forgiven in Jesus’ name,

practise being godly.

He paid the price for all our sin

His Holy Spirit dwells within

so centre all you do on Him...

Practise being godly

You can lift big weights, you can swim or run

train everyday to be number one.

But it’s better to train for the life to come

practise being godly

Well, walk with the Lord wherever you go;

whatever you’re doing, He will know.

Say, ‘Yes! God’

to sin say, ‘No!’

Practise being godly

Bible Reading:  Jeremiah 4, 11-26

Awake, awake, O Zion,

and clothe yourself with strength,

shake off your dust

and fix your eyes on Him.

For you have been redeemed by

the precious blood of Jesus,

and now you sit enthroned with Him.

Our God reigns,

He is King of all the earth.

Our God reigns,

and He's seated on the throne.

Lift your voice,

and sing a song of praise.

Our God reigns,

the awesome Lord most high.

How beautiful the feet are

of those who bring good news,

for they proclaim the peace that comes from God.

Rise up, you holy nation,

proclaim the great salvation,

and say to Zion 'Your God reigns.'

Emmanuel, Emmanuel,

our God is with us now.

The watchmen lift their voices,

and raise a shout of joy,

for He will come again.

Then all eyes will see the

Salvation of our God,

for He has redeemed Jerusalem.

The Bible Teaching

Today Your mercy calls us

to wash away our sin,

however great our trespass,

whatever we have been;

however long from mercy

our hearts have turned away,

Your blood, O Christ, can cleanse us

and set us free today.

Today Your gate is open,

and all who enter in

shall find a father's welcome

and pardon for their sin;

the past shall be forgotten,

a present joy be given,

a future grace be promised,

a glorious crown in heaven.

Today the Father calls us;

the Holy Spirit moves;

the Son has given His lifeblood

for every soul He loves.

No question will be asked us

why we so late have come,

or why we always wandered:

this is our Father's home!

O all-embracing mercy!

O ever-open door!

What should we do without You,

how can we ask for more?

When all things seem against us,

to drive us to despair,

we know one gate is open,

and You will hear our prayer.

Sunday Morning – 7th September 2008

Welcome

Far and near hear the call,

worship Him, Lord of all;

families of nations come

celebrate what God has done.

Say it loud, say it strong,

tell the world what God has done;

say it loud, praise His name,

let the earth rejoice for the Lord reigns.

Deep and wide is the love

heaven sent from above;

God's own Son for sinners died,

rose again – He is alive!

At his name, let praise begin

oceans roar. nature sings;

for He comes to judge the earth

in righteous-ness and in His truth.

Jesus is the King,

ruler over everything

Jesus is the one,

promised one, the Son of God

Jesus is the Lord,

He's the one you can't ignore

Jesus, Jesus: He is the King.

He commanded the fishermen,

"Hey, Come follow Me!"

And they did, and they did, and they did!

Because...

He commanded the evil ones,

"Hey, come out of him!"

And they did, and they did, and they did!

Because...

He commanded the wind and waves.

"Hey, be still, be still!"

And they did, and they did, and they did!

Because...

He promised that three days after death,

He'd rise again

And he did, and he did, and he did!

Because...

Bible Reading: John 3: 1-21

Who is there like You?

And who else would give their life for me?

Even suffering in my place

And who could repay You?

All of creation looks to You

And You provide for all You have made

So I’m lifting up my hands,

lifting up my voice,

lifting up Your name,

and in Your grace I rest,

for Your love has come to me

and set me free.

And I’m trusting in Your word,

trusting in Your cross,

trusting in Your blood

and all Your faithfulness,

for Your power at work in me

is changing me.

Bible Teaching

Born of Adam, torn from Eden,

child of exile and the flood,

I was born again in Jesus,

crowned with glory through His blood.

Though creation lies in shackles,

forged on Satan’s anvil grim,

there is freedom yet in Jesus

and redemption is in Him.

Would you see the new day dawning,

healing all creations loss?

Look into the face of Jesus,

fix your eyes upon the cross.

Listen ever for the trumpet,

O, you children of new birth,

for He comes to rule in triumph,

His new heaven, His new earth.

Prayers

Speak, O Lord, as we come to You

to receive the food of Your holy word.

Take Your truth; plant it deep in us;

shape and fashion us in Your likeness,

that the light of Christ might be seen today

in our acts of love and our deeds of faith.

Speak, O Lord, and fulfil in us

all Your purposes, for Your glory.

Teach us Lord full obedience,

holy reverence, true humility;

test our thoughts and our attitudes

in the radiance of Your purity.

Cause our faith to rise;

cause our eyes to see

Your majestic love and authority.

Words of power that can never fail –

let their truth prevail over unbelief.

Speak, O Lord, and renew our minds;

help us grasp the heights of Your plans for us –

Truths unchanged from the dawn of time

that will echo down through eternity.

And by grace we'll stand on Your promises;

and by faith we'll walk as You walk with us.

Speak, O Lord, till Your church is built

and the earth is filled with Your glory.

Bible Reading: 1 Kings 21:1-20

The Bible Teaching

God, in the gospel of His Son,

makes His eternal counsels known

where love in all its glory shines

and truth is drawn in fairest lines.

Here sinners of a helpless race

may learn His name and taste His grace,

may read in characters of blood

the wisdom, power and grace of God.

Here may the prisoners lose their chains,

the weary rest from all their pains,

the captives find their souls' release,

the mourners find the way of peace.

Here faith reveals to mortal eyes

a brighter world beyond the skies;

here shines the light which guides our way

from earth to realms of endless day.

Here wisdom all her light imparts,

to teach our minds and move our hearts:

such influence bids the sinner live

and makes the burdened soul revive.

O grant us grace, almighty Lord,

to understand Your holy word,

with meekness all its truths receive

and by its light for ever live.

Closing Prayer

Sunday Morning – 17th August 2008

Welcome

Stand up and bless the Lord,

you people of His choice:

stand up and bless the Lord your God

with heart and soul and voice.

Though high above all praise,

above all blessing high,

who would not fear His holy name

and praise and magnify?

O for the living flame

from His own altar brought,

to touch our lips, our minds inspire,

and wing to heaven our thought!

God is our strength and song,

and His salvation ours;

let us proclaim His love in Christ

with all our ransomed powers.

Stand up and bless the Lord,

the Lord your God adore;

stand up and bless His glorious name

both now and evermore.

Reading  - all together … Nehemiah 9:5,6,8

Stand up and bless the LORD your God from everlasting to everlasting. Blessed be Your glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise.

You are the LORD, You alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them; and You preserve all of them; and the host of heaven worships You. You are the LORD...and You have kept Your promises for You are righteous.

Prayers

Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 11:7-12:8

Bible Teaching

Lord of our dawning, who brought us to birth,

gave us Your word for this sin-shattered earth,

clothed us with promise of strength for our days –

God of beginnings, we sing to Your praise!

Lord of our morning, who taught us to pray,

taught us to trust You through joy or dismay,

taught us that freedom is serving our King –

glad with thanksgiving, our worship we bring.

Lord of our noonday, in Christ make us strong,

wise to prevail in the war against wrong,

steadfast to trust You and swift to obey –

serving Your will in our world of today!

Lord of our evening, Provider and Guide,

lead us in triumph through paths yet untried,

trusting, rejoicing, till rest shall be won –

serving while waiting our soon-coming Sun.

Then, in the light of His glory and grace,

we shall adore You and look on Your face;

then, in the wonder of faith crowned in sight,

serve You forever in endless delight!

Prayer

By Christ redeemed, in Christ restored

we keep the memory adored

and show the death of our dear Lord

until He comes.

His body, broken in our stead,

is seen in this memorial bread,

and so our faltering love is fed

until He comes.

The drops of His dread agony,

His lifeblood shed for us, we see;

the wine shall tell the mystery

until He comes.

And so, in this most sacred rite,

our Saviour's dark betrayal night

with His last advent we unite

until He comes.

Communion

Then shall the trumpet call be heard,

then shall the ancient graves be stirred,

and with the great commanding word

the Lord shall come.

O glorious hope! O happy state!

Let not our hearts be desolate

but, strong in faith, in patience wait

until He comes.
